July 11: Departure from California at 6:45 am.
July 12: Arrive in Santiago, Chile and Travel to Linares for the Semi-Rural Chile Experience and Intensive Spanish Program. Stay at Chacahuin Retreat Center until July 18.
July 13-27: Pre-session in Linares
July 14: Trip to San Javier and Nirivilo with traditional wine making and telar weaving (indigenous weaving) tour and a visit a local artisan and wood carver.
July 15: Trip to Yerbas Buenas and Quinamavida (a popular hot spring and resort spa).
July 16: Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patroness of Chile. Trip to Huapi Alto.
July 18: Move to San Antonio and meet first host family.
July 25: Gran paseo
July 28: Leave Linares and arrive at Santiago. Meet second and final host family.
July 30: Orientation at San Joaquin Campus (with Estaban and Estella)
July 31: Orientation at Casa Central (with Nuria)
August 3: First Day of Classes
August 21: Tour “Memoria Historica de Chile” (Villa Grimaldi and Cemetery)
August 30-31: Overnight in Valparaíso y Viña del Mar
September 4: Trip to Viña Concha y Toro
September 10: Cocktail with familes
September 17-19: Return to Linares
September 18: Chilean Independence Day
September 18-21: Feriado Fiestas Patrias
September 26: Trip to Pomaire
September 27: Futból game (COLO COLO)
October 7-14: Trip to MACHU PICCHU, Peru (see post)
October 12: Feriado (Holiday) – No school
October 28: Paseo al Palacio Cousiño
October 31: Fiesta de Halloween en Ex-Fabrica
November 6: Paseo al zoológico y Cerro Santa Lucia
November 7: Trip to Cabalgata a la Cordillera
November 10: Notre Dame Alumni Cocktail at St. George’s (met Andrés Wood and Dean of Graduate Studies at Notre Dame)
November 12: Ceremonia de Notre Dame Award at La Moneda
November 16: Last day of Español for Extranjeros
November 20: Double 21st Birthday Carrete
November 23: Last Day of Chilean Politics and Society
November 26: Thanksgiving Dinner with extranjeros
December 1: Viaje a Mendoza, Argentina por bus at 7:30 am
December 2: Wine and Bike Tour at Mr. Hugo’s
December 3: Leave to Buenos Aires from Mendoza at 6:45 pm
December 4: Arrive at Buenos Aires
December 5: Fiesta Gaucha en la Pampa Argentina; Buenos Aires Pubcrawl in San Telmo at 10 pm
December 6: Tango Lessons at 5 pm
December 7: Viaje a Colonia, Uruguay
December 8: Tour of Tigre; Walking to la Recoleta, Plaza de Mayo and Café Tortoni
December 9: Visit Bagatela (unofficial Che Guevara Museum); Leave Buenos Aires at 5 pm
December 10: Return to Santiago
December 21: Departure from Santiago.
December 22: Arrival into the United States
